    There is a couple of possibilities here, this could be a transition gun, meaning they didn't throw away the slides in stock, they used them until they were gone. Or it could have a replacement barrel on it. They didn't give the serial number of the gun, it was around s/n 850000 in the late 30s if I recall correctly when they made this change. I would ask for a picture of the top of the barrel where it mates to the receiver extension so I could see the proof marks, I would also ask if the serial numbers match on the receiver and receiver extension. Although it looks real nice for a gun 60 plus years old, I would not grade it collector quality, not much blue left on the receiver extention, wear on the tube and slide, finish wear on the butt stock. collector quality is as close to new in the box as you can get. It will be interesting to see if it sells. Regards Dave

    Looks like a nice gun but I agree not collector grade. I recently bought one, made 1955, better for $450, no blue worn off on sharp edges of receiver, serial number on both barrel and receiver.
