U. S. Military 50 round 45 APC Boxes
Can anyone tell me when the U S Military started using 50 round boxes for 45 APC Ball ammo ? I have 20 round boxes up until 1941. I have 50 round from 1942. I would also like to find out when they stopped the 20 round Ball. I have 20 round boxes of Shot up till 1945. Thanks in advance for any help. Leather325

Damn good question; my references don't say when the changeover occured, but it makes sense that it was about the time we entered the war and the Thompson began to be issued in large numbers to the Marines and airborne units. The shot versions were all 20 rounders as far as I know, since they were strictly for use with the pistol as a "survival" load. I see you made the transition over from "Another" Auction site . . . .
