Shiloh Sharpes Rifles Firing Question
My question is can you safetly fire 4570 ammo in a 45-110? I can be told that it will not hurt the rifle. If this is possible please let me know.
Thank you

Rimed cartridges headspace on the rim.
The only difference between the 45-70 & the 45-110 Sharps ( Straight ) is the case length. The 45-110 case is over 3/4 of a inch longer then the 45-70, the projectile is going to have to "jump" that much further before it reaches the rifleing.
To my way of thinking, if the 45-70 is going to be loaded with a modern jacketed projectile, this would create a gas blow-by situation that would result in great inaccuracy.

Should work and since both space on rim and cart. rims are nominally equal there should be no safety problem, but I don't think your going to like the results ...
If you only have time to do two things so-so, or one thing well ... do the one thing!0
