Tokarev Model 54-1 Cal. 7.62x25 HELP
I just took in for trade in a bunch of stuff for one of these and I dont know or cant figure anything out about it. It says made in china, but unlike the other modles I have seen it is not norinco it is a KSI from Pomona CA. The date on the pistol is 1955 which appears by the thumb saftey. It is very similar to this model:

It looks almost just like these but it seems to have a shorter handle/grip and where the saftey is the grips go around the saftey and have kinda a thumbrest but it isnt very big. The grips have the star in the middle. Thanks guys!!!!

The ChiCom "Type 54" Tokarev was the "Export" version of the standard Chinese Military Tokarev ( Type 51). Many were brought back from the Viet Nam as souvenirs.
All the Type 54's that I've seen in the past, were NOT equiped with a manual safety.
Since your Tokarev has "KSI" commercial markings, along with a 1955 manufacturing date, my WAG is that it had been in storage in a Chinese arsenal for at least 35 years until a American importer got his hands on it, and had it retrofitted with a manual safety so he could sell it in the US.

It doesnt look like that at all, it looks like a regular 54. It has all the markings as I said. I am not sure what it is! 0 -
I saw some of these in the early 90's. Retrofitted safety that falls out sometimes in your hand.
Nothing to get excited about.
