AR Question?
A buddy of mine bought a 7 1/2 barrel upper yesterday pretty reasonable. Question is, where can he get a pistol lower for it? He tried Rock River and whoever he talked to said they didn't make one. They also weren't any help on where to look. He was going to put it on a rifle lower until I told him that as far as I knew that was illegal. Any help appreciated.

I kind of asked the same question a while back and got most of may answers and I think this is how it goes. You have to have a receiver that has never left the factory as an actually rifle. Then you probably need a dealer to transfer it to you as a pistol. I think this is the way it goes.
Now for the NO part. Or probably NO. With the current Assault Weapons Ban you have a limitation of 50oz total weight if it's going to be able to accept a detachable magazine. Pretty hard to do and that's not all of the things you need to consider. You'd just a well get yourself an OA-98 and be done with it as that is AWB legal. Or you could spend some really money and get a true preban OA-93 pistol.
Now on the other hand if the AWB goes away in Sept then no 50oz weight limit. Time will tell ....
