Gun safe advice
I need a reliable but inexpensive gun safe. One that I can gain access fast, but not my lil girls. Budget can stand 3 figures, but not much more. Any suggestions?

I have found fire rated Cannons at local discount stores in the past. They came equipped with digital locks, for around $500.
If you look on line, keep in mind that shipping is going to be huge, as these safes are heavy (400- 600 lbs).
Good luck!

I bought a 17 CF Sentry safe at Menards for $329 + tax. Not fire-resistant but light years better than those cheaper tin safes.

The chain sporting good stores usually have Homak (& another inexpensive brand I can't remember) for $100-200. Bolted to the wall/floor these provide the bare minimum level of protection, since a well-equiped burglar can peel a cheap lock box in < 1 minute. But, if you have an alarm system, or just can't afford a quality safe like the one noted above, it's better than nothing.

You might find something in a "Fort Knox" safe within your budget if you don't need anything very big, and you are able to pick it up yourself to save shipping/delivery costs. You may have a distributor nearby. The factory will know who is nearest you. I drove about three hours to pick up mine from a guy who sells them out of his home as a part-time business.
They have several grades available starting with the Maverick series and culminating with the Yeager series. I have two from the Gaurdian series. The smaller model I decided to buy when I was there and saw it was ~$1200. I haven't priced them for a long time, but I think it would be worth a look if you think this might work for you. You might get lucky and find a dealer nearby!

For the money it's hard to beat the Sentry GL mentioned. Walmart has them also.

sentry makes nice ones for around $350. If you cant find them they have them at superwalmart. Or you can get a gun cabinet that weighs 65 lbs for around $75 at walmart. You can bolt it to the floor and wall. The difference is the cabinets ar not fire proof and of course the are not as tough. But they are more than enough to store guns and keep out kids or anyone else that comes into your house. Most people dont break into houses carrying an acetaline torch so no worries.

No offense to my peer imputes on their on safes, but, if you want a deterrent, both fire resistant and not being able to pick it up and run off with it, anything under a thousand pounds, then contact me directly. I spent over four years researching safes. That included calling the manufactures, repeatedly questioning them against the other builders. There is a big discrepancy in the reported capabilities of safes. Thiefs like to carry safes away--a light safe just means you've consoladated your valuables in a light weight container that a couple of hoodlums can run off with---has happened here in Kali several times.
not cheap but worth the money---it will stop your daughters boy friends from offing your guns

I have a Frontier Renegade 60x30x24 and really like the fact that it is good at 1220 deg F for 45 minutes rather than the 30 minutes of alot of other companies. It also has the solid 3/8 inch steel door, rather than a rolled corner 10 or 12 gage door like others. The body is also 10 gage rather than the competitor's 11 or 12. I also wanted a good safe under $1000, but sprang for the extra 200 to get a good solid safe that weighs 725, so it's harder to walk away with. If you think it's easy to move a 725lb safe ask the 3 guys that took an hour and nearly got hernias moving mine last time. http://www.frontiersafe.com/ 0 -
thats why you bolt them down ,and don't leave a dolly sitting next to it
