Enfield Magazine
I was cleaning up my original Enfield No.5 Jungle Carbine...
There is some severe pitting on one side of the magazine.
I found a Website that sells Enfield No.4 Mags in .303 Brit. For $18.95
Are these interchangable? What are my chances of finding an original mag in good shape!?
Does anyone know a connection for parts?
Is this not as simple as it seems?!?!

to get magazine that will work try:
www.e-gunparts.com
May even have No. 5 mags.
If you only have time to do two things so-so, or one thing well ... do the one thing!0 -
Isn't the No. 5 Jungle Carbine .308? If it is, have you tried the 2A mags? Any gun stores near you have them, just go in and try one.
Got a new gun for my ex-wife.....pretty good trade, huh?0 -

To your original question, I don't believe the .303 mags are interchangeable with the .308 mags.
Not sure if this site is relevent but sure is interesting, check out:

The original #5 enfield jungle carbine is 303 british not 308. The #4 mag will work in the #5 since they are both the same mag the #5 is a lighten verson of the #4. So buy a #4 mag for 303 if you have an original #5 carbine. If it is not a true orginal #5 but one made by and importer by cutting down a larger british service rifle you will need to know what model the original rifle was before they made it "look" like a #5 jungle carbine. 0 -
I've got a number 4 Parker Hale sport rifle. the No 3's magazines won't work in the no 4 or 5. They all fit, but the shells won't feed properly. I was on a shoot in Australia's northern territory and very frustrated at the inability of the No 3 mag to feed the No4. they look the same but son't operate the same. My gunsmith said all I needed to do was to bend the 2 prongs on the mag's top edge in a little and they would be fine. I don't know, but I'll try it next time. We used 500 rounds in 5 days, so guys with mag's carried the day! 0 -
Yes... As far as I know the rifle is all original.
My buddy has a collectors license and ordered it from some warehouse wholesaler.
It is .303 Brit, and the no.4 mags I saw, were advertised as .303
But if you say no.4 mags are heartier, I would like to know in what respects of the construction.
And just for a general opinion how many people would use the heftier mag, or will only an original be good enough (I.E. No.5 Mag)

If your rifle is an original Mark 5, then the magazine for the No.4 and No.4 Mark I will fit and fuction as the carbines were made from No. 4's. The magazines from the No.I Mark III look the same, but are of different dimensions inside. If on the other hand, your carbine was cut down from some other model, as was done a lot by the importers, then you will have to figure out which model was used. 0 -
So if its an original, the Mags should be identical between the No.5 and No.4?!?!
This sounds logical to me, from a wartime manufacturing standpoint.
I need to run the numbers on it...
What party does the manufacturing of these cut-down's? And why would they do this?
( Is it the importer? )
I purchased this thing about two years ago...
What's the story on the importing of these guns?
Anyone know a site where I can ID my rifle?
Possibly get a value?
