I'm going to try to answer your question(s) here, but I may not completely understand what you are really asking.
First, if you are asking if the word "Super" is supposed to be imprinted on ALL Single Six guns.....the answer is "NO!" The "Super" Single Six is marked this way and was manufactured from 1964 to 1972. "YES" the adjustable sights was the added feature which made it a "Super."
The relatively low numbers manufactured have made the Super quite collectible, especially in the rare blue 4 5/8" barrel which trades between $800 and $1,000. The much more Rarer Nickel 6 1/2" barrel Super will trade for between $1,200 and $2,250, and sometimes a little more on each of these guns. Not sure if I answered what you are asking, but if not, ask again. Hope this helps.

When Ruger came out with the Single Six in .44Mag...it was a Real Knuckle Buster...! It was with the ROUNDED TRIGGER GUARD and believe me when I say It really Smarted when You pulled the trigger on a Magnum Load....Ruger had enough complaints about the design that THEY advertised that anyone that wanted to UPGRADE to the Super Blackhawk...just ship your Single Six back to the Factory and they would replace the Rounded Trigger Guard to the New SQUARED Super Blackhawk Trigger Guard...all for the cost of Postage........Just a Little History for You....Best.....

Capt. I think you meant to say Blackhawk not single six when talking about the 44mag!
also we need to know if you are talking about the old models or the new model
You're right...OLD MODEL Blackhawk...Was thinking about My Old Single Six at the same time...Just go's to show You that at times I can't Chew Gum and Walk at the same time...Sorry about the confussion..0 -
hi, i was not real clear on my question. i have a single six stainless steel. the serial number puts it made in 1980.I was wondering how to tell if it was a super or just a single six, if the word super was printed on the frame along with single six. its a two cylinder, and a joy to shoot. it has adjustable rear sight.just wondering what i had. so, as i understand it, a super is worth much more than a single six, and teh word super will be printed on the frame if thats indeed what it is? thanks 0
