The Md 37 by Ithaca was only made in 12,16, and 20ga.
The Winchester Md 12, in 28ga, is by far the best of the 3 guns, but the field grade gun starts at $3000. plus on the used market. that's for the simple plain barrel.
So for the money, the Remington 870 Wingmaster, on the used market you will start seeing them at around $400. and up.

You might consider a Remington 1100. I have one in 28 ga. and it works great. 28 gauge shells are a little expensive. If you are choosing the 28 ga. for recoil considerations, another option would be a youth model 1100 in 20 gauge. A 20 ga. gas operated autoloader will be similiar to a 28 ga. pump.

Try Wal Mart. I've gotten them there before. ShotGunNews and mail order them. Save the empties and reload. Don't have enough of them yet myself but will eventually.

when winchester dicontinued the m-12 in 28ga, remingtons claim to fame was being the only american company making a unique gun model in all 5 gauges,(12/16/20/28/410.) the gun was the m-870. this honor also included being the only american company that made a semi auto in all 5 ga's too. they were the m-48, m-58, & m-1100. hi standard of hamden conn. came close with 4 in pump and semi auto, (12/20/28/410.) they were solid inexpensive guns. the 870 or an old hi std is the way to go.

Hello, I only paid $235.00 shipped for my 28 Gauge Remington 870 Express. I can't justify the higher price for the Wingmaster.
