Buffler, where Hodgdon (or is it Hornady?) & Graf are producing ammo / components in this caliber these days, I'd check on their web sites or contact them for modern loads. I may be able to scrounge up some older loads from Phil Sharpes' book or possibly from Ken Waters' Pet Loads, but no promises and the components may no longer be available. I'd try the guys in the Midwest first.

From Donnelly's Cartridge conversions, use Bell (now Mast?) 405Win Basic brass.
Bullet dia .412, case length 2.58", OAL 3.18"

Waters in his Mar 1982 article suggests using Bell 40 Sharps Basic brass. He shows a spec bullet dia of .4115 but his barrels slugged out at .413-.4145 actual. Using (I'm picking this one because it should still be a available bullet, he also used other 41Mag bullets)) a Hornady JHP .410dia 210gr (41Mag bullet) over 44.0-49.0gr IMR-4198 or 49.0-50.0gr H-4198 or 54gr of H-322 powder in origional Win cases (other cases would require YOU to do proper load workups).
    Hope that helps.

Some guys like a mag full of lead, I still prefer one round to the head.

    Buffler...

It is Hornady that is manufacturing factory new 405 W.C.F. ammo (fairly potent stuff I might add), and it is made to be safe in the old original Winchester Model 1895 rifles chambered for that cartridge. It launches a 300 gr. JSP at 2225 fps out of a 24" barrel, and I have chronographed it at 2440-2475 fps coming out of my 30" barreled Model 1885 Single-shot high-wall (and does it ever pack a wallop[B)][:D]). If you aren't careful, it will kill at both ends[}:)]

For cast bullets (300 gr.), 43 grains of IMR 3031 works nicely (about 1600 fps), and the recoil isn't nearly as severe.
