Ithaca model 37 ??

    sir, dont know serial # range but the old guns had a pin in the take down cap, you pushed on it and the pin slid out allowing you to tighten the cap without a wrench or pliers ect. also the early guns barrels had threads all the same size, they had problems with some people assembling the gun with out the bbl being completly seated, so this was changed to the very first thread larger, and gun will not assemble unless that first larger thread being in the corresponding larger first grove in reciever. i am thinking the early- mid 50`s being when the change was made.hope this helps. dux

    the old style 37's also had the serial number on the barrel and the lug where the barrel nut pressed against it was rounded other than squared
