I was at the range today used to see 22mag brass all the time now about all I see is 17 cal didnt realise how small the 17 was untill I stuck the 17 brass in a 22mag was wondering is the 17 that much better then 22mag or is it just a fad thing because its new

It shoots flatter, but it depends on your needs as to whether it is better... 0 -
I own both.I really love to shoot the .17. It is a personal thing. My 17 is far more accurate than my 22mag. If I had to pick from them I would say a 22mg for hunting and a 17 for fun.Just my 2 cents . 0 -
Addon question: I used to have a .17 Remington and it was really susceptible accuracy problems due to the powder fouling. Is this true with the .17HMR? 0 -
rsnyder, The 17HMR is not affected to a noticable degree from fouling like the 17 Remington centerfire is! I have yet to see a decline in accuracy from shooting a lot of shots between cleaning! Two altogether different beasts!!! GHD 0 -
I have both chamberings - the .17 HMR is fast becoming my favorite due to accuracy. Now that there is some competition in the ammo business the costs is going down to where it isn't really that much more expensive to shoot than the .22 WMR.
Lots of folks claimed this round would be just a fad like the 5mm Rem rimfire, yet there are so many manufacturers chambering the .17HMR today that I think it'll be around for some time to come.
Keep off the Ridgeline0 -
Thanks Guys I was just wondering havent decided if I want one yet or not if the price starts to get better I might 0
