An m38 what? I can think of at least 4 guns with this name.

"...hit your enemy in the belly, and kick him when he is down, and boil his prisoners in oil- if you take any- and torture his women and children. Then people will keep clear of you..." -Admiral of the Fleet Lord Fisher, speaking at the Hague Peace Conf

Ah. That is the first that came to mind but so did the turk mauser, italian carcano, jap T 38 (have heard it misnomered) and I THINK there was a pistol by this name but dont quote me on that. I dunno the answer but presume then the 44 inches is correct.

    Hi,

Here are some specs on the Mosin Nagant M38. This is a pretty good Mosin Nagant web page.

    http://7.62x54r.net/MosinID/MosinSpec.htm

    Overall length - 40 inches
    Barrel length - 20.25 inches

    Regards,
