I have removed them with a large screw driver. It is easier with the tool Remington makes

if you can't get it lose with a large screw driver, you can use a 1/8" thick piece of flat steel that is wide enough to go all the way across the slot , use a cresent wrench on the flat steel

this is a discription of a tool i made in my shop for removing the stocks on the 1100. take a 12 point deep socket that will just not quiet fit over the round nut. take a dremmel tool with a small grinding wheel and grind out the inside of the socket to where it just slips over the nut. then take your torch and anneal the socket to soften it up. put it in your drill press and drill an 1/8" hole through it. once this is done, take some 3/8" round bar and braze a t shaped handle on it and braze the 1/8" pin in place and grind
smooth. you now have a good sturdy tool for stock removal.david, point blank firearm repair
