It means it has a 3" chamber but yes, it can shoot both 2 3/4" and 3" shells. However, occasionally repeating guns chambered for the longer shells won't properly cycle so on them you'd just have to try it.

No, it won't work with the 3.5" shells unless it specifically states it.

Good luck shootin' tomorrow - have fun!

2 3/4 inch will be fine a BIG NO on the 3 1/2 happy shooting.

And if the 2-3/4 shells make your shoulder too sore from the recoil, you can use (depending what you're shoot at) the Aguila mini-shells too, like these:

buy a 2 3/4" shell and go have fun. buy one with a low 'dram equivilant' and you will be fine. look for a 7/8 oz load or a euro shell in 24 grain if you can find one. they have lower lead content and kick less. stay away from the 3.5" shells. your gun wont chamber it safely.

Got a good recoil pad? :)
coach guns are lighter weight and not as ergonomic as some other guns, and the heavier shells will whack ya some.
In onther words, forget buckshot unless you're inot pain!
Bobski has it right ,the lower the Dram Equiv.,the less recoil.some new boxes I see on the shelf have gone to measuring "power" as fps...feet per second.I think 1145 is the 'slowest' I've seen.Plenty fset enough for clays, tin cans ,or knock downs.
    Have fun,and above all,SHOOOT SAFELY.

Well, the kick doesn't bother me...I've got sort of a 'coach' gun that was passed to me by my great-grandfather. Barrels are 13.5 inches and 2 inches of stock was sawed off. I have no problem shooting slugs out of this gun.

As for the Norinco...it's a turd. Only the left barrel would discharge the shell. The right side made a very light mark on 3 different shells, but didn't hit hard/deep enough to ignite the primer. Crazy thing about Big 5...they took the gun back and refunded the money! I fully expected them to send the gun off for repair due to registration and all. They said they offer a one year money back guarantee on their firearms. They also said they probably couldn't get another coach gun here any sooner than a couple of months.

just wanted to drop another line before the legality issue is brought up by some straight lacer....the sawed off gun was manufactured prior to 1898 and thereby is not governed by modern firearm laws. Actually, it's not even considered a 'firearm' by state or federal agencies. [:D]
