To ID your pieces be sure to give a good description, all marks and lettering, length of barrel, type of finish, percentage estimate of original finish left, type and condition of grips, condition of bore, any other details or comments.

Please post if we are talking rifle, handgun, or combination gun. The .44-40 was made in all three. Also need a complete discription of both guns to be able to help you. Do not over look any marking or proof mark or patent date. A set of photos for each gun would be nice. Remember that we can only see these guns through your eyes. To come on the forum and say I have an old .44-40 and need to talk to someone doesn't tell us anything that will let us help you. There are many very smart people on this forum, but, we need your help also.

I shoot an old 44-40 if there is any information along that line. I really enjoy it.

I agree, rather then attitude, you could have posted a description of the guns that you want information on.

Lets cut the new guy some slack okay? He only has 3 postings (all here...one posting essentially) and likey has no idea that "CAPS" are an issue for some folks. Whats up with that anyway?

    JACKLEG1,

Welcome to the forum! Sorry about your bad reception. Perhaps you can try again sometime later if it doesn't work for you this time.

As was pointed-out; we need all of the information you have on your guns. Without a picture all of the details will be important. You can use x's in the last few digits of the serial number if you don't want to expose all of it. The more detail you can provide the better.

    Best Regards
