I have a Winchester 94 Legacy with the new tang mounted saftey. Is there a tang sight that will work with my gun?

This is a fairly new arrangement (the tang safety on the '94) and personally I haven't examined one yet. Are there any drilled and tapped holes present on the tang between the safety and the hammer--perhaps filled with plug screws? If so, obviously someone is making a sight with that specific hole spacing. If not, then the sky's the limit as to what you can have installed; but unless you have machine shop experience it may best left to a gunsmith. I would proceed by measuring the space available for the sight base with the safety in in it's fully forward position, and then phone some of the gunsight companies like Lyman and ask them for their recommendations, bearing in mind the space available on the tang. If they have nothing in production as yet, you can visit a couple of gunshows and sort through some parts piles for a used sight with mounting hole spacing that will work.

You might check with Columbia Precision in Timnath, Co. 970-686-2865 www.columbiaprecision.com I had them install a tang sight on a new model 86 Winchester takedown a couple of years ago and just sent the reciever to them and they did the drilling and taping. For a tang sight on a tang safety they can't be beat, I am very pleased with the product and installation.
