Ruger BlackHawk Repair Question
I looked a a Ruger Blackhawk, {3 screw type} today at a Pawn-Shop. They had a price of $320.00 on it. .41 mag approx 5-6" bbl. I played with it for a minute and noticed that the cylinder "wobbled" a bit from side to side,More than I think is "Normal". I wondered if this was a common problem and/or an easy fix or repair. I didn't play with it long enough to notice if there was a timing problem also. Any info would be great...I really liked this gun and may go back for a second look.

You may not have tested it correctly.
Tightness is determined by cocking the gun, & then releasing the hammer slowly with your thumb while continuing to hold the trigger back with your finger. Once the hammer is all the way forward, THEN wiggle the cylinder to see if it is tight. This way the hand (at the back of the frame), & the cylinder stop (at the bottom of the frame) are both engaged, as they would be at the moment of firing.

even if its a bit loose it would most likely still be a good shooter and 320 for a 3 screw is about right if its in good shape 0 -
Neal,it may be late here but your post isn't ringing true with me.
The cyl. stop is engaged at either point, and the hand would be backing off at the bottome of the 'stroke',no?
I agree that 'looseness' while at rest is relative...if it locks up tight at full cock,it will enhance accuracy.
I have a thirty year old, very used 3 screw that will shoot bullseyes all day long.Great guns!
