When measuring the length or a rifle barrel,do you include the chamber?

  What are the advantages and disadvantages of barrel lenght of a shot- gun lets say the same choke 28" barrel vs 30" barrel???

  on a rifle , the legal barrel length is 16" and should be 26" overall. a shotgun is 18" and 26" overall

  IS THAT BARREL SHOWING OR DO THEY COUNT THE THREADS THAT SCREWS UP INTO GUN

  Barrel length is measured from the face of the (closed) bolt to the muzzle.
  Easiest way is to unload the gun, close the action, than insert a 22cal cleaning down the barrel and mark the rod flush with the muzzle. Remove the rod and measure.

  Some guys like a mag full of lead, I still prefer one round to the head.
