Have Winchester of 1917 in the closet. 30-06 with Herter muzzle brake on it. Doesn't appear to be original. Not finding much info on this production. Post some thots on the rifle. Thanks, GW.

I have no idea of the value, but you'll hear a resounding yes on if you should run it with no reserve. Worse case start it at the lowest you'd take for it. Optimally, you'd start it out very cheap and hope (usually does) a bidding war takes off.

If it's not collectable I might be interested in it for functional use.

It works, I ground some deer in it a month ago, It is marked No. W12 & says winchester repeating arms co. new haven, conn. on the crank handle, it has all the orig. blades in a plastic bag that came with it. I bought it out of an estate of an elderly woman that had passed.
I was thinking about listing it at $250.oo with NO RESERVE. Like I said I am not sure which cata. to list in to get the best results.
    Thanks

    Danlittle,
I hate to burst your bubble, but , the 'Standard Catalog of Winchester' by David D. Kowalski, lists you food grinder on page 624 of his book. Your #W12 is listed as the medium size that was available. The were made from 1922 through 1941, in excellent condition it is valued at $75.00

Seen completed auctions for 3 or 4 that ranged from sales price of 30-70 dollars depending on condition. Not sure how model or size affects value.

I have been looking these up on E### & have yet to see one in mint condt. with all the cutter blades included, there is currently 3 running 1 newer one, 1 rusted & parts missing, & 1 someone has painted the handle on [Not Orig.] none had the complete set of cutters. this is the first one I have ever seen Complete & Mint.
But in the event anybody has another one this nice I will give
what your catalog value says + 10% an I still dont know what the true value is. but I sure like the help & info.
If anybody knows of someone who can Appr. this please let me know.

Thanks Duckhunter, But I think gettin an Appr. & knowing an items true value only makes for a better desp. & with an appr. sheet your buyer is also protected against reproductions & fakes. It also gaurentees against un-wanted returns do to a bad desp. of item. Thats why I came to the ask the Experts Board. An item is only worth what someone is willing to pay, but would you not feel better if you knew what you were selling was the real deal & not a overseas knockoff ???
    Thanks,
    Dan
