What is the difference in the Hamden and Hartford .22 mag derringers? I just bought one that's from E. Hartford Conn. Just curious of why 2 different places. Thanks

Be careful with that wallet holster, if you can find one. Beleive that they are a little on the illegal side, same as the wallet holsters for the little North American .22's. Check with someone who has some expertise in the laws that cover that. Seems silly that they have outlawed wallet holsters but that's our government.

The wallet holsters are openly available, however, it is illegal to own one at the same time you own the derringer. So sell your derringer before you get the wallet holster. I saw an ATF ruling on this particular subject. Kinda like owning a Sten parts set and a suitable muffler pipe at the same time. I know these laws are stupid. But that's how they are.

You will see the High Standard/Wallet holster ATF ruling about 18 down on the following site. This might be a good site for others to bookmark.

One of the best designed pistols on the planet.

I carried a High Standard 22 mag for years as a backup. However the wallet holster never interested me and it was illegal in Kalif.

The inside clip-on holster was the best, most comfortable, most concealable that I found.

    Yes, but....

The "controlled" wallet holsters that are the subject of the ruling to which Boeboe refers have a hole in the wallet that permits the gun to be fired while the gun is still in the holster. There used to be another kind of wallet holster sold that was solid & required you to pull the gun from the holster in order to fire it; THESE are still legal to own (at least under federal law). Unfortunately taco, no one currently makes either these or the clip-on holsters; your only (slim) hope is the used market.

So simply possessing that gun and that holster at the same time (even though they are not mated togethr) is a crime?

That is not what I infered from the linked ATF letter.

    Yep, it's illegal.

"The handgun combined with the wallet holster constitutes an NFA weapon......In order for an individual to lawfully "make" a wallet gun, that is to say, acquire both the handgun and the wallet holster, the person must first submit an Application to Make and Register a Firearm (ATF Form 1), pay a $200.00 making tax, and receive approval of the application."
