REPRODUCTION -COLT Mags ???? UP-DATE!

I am looking in the new Shooter's catalog from Sportsmansguide..
page 46. 'COLT 1911 .45cal. 7-rd mag.' then it says "Reproduction COLT 7-rd Mag" AND!!!! "Stamped just like the originals" I am looking at the photo and it has all the stampings, and I have a REAL mag in my hand. Looks the same, What gives????? Then on the ad for a Officers mag, it says "How can you tell? it's got the RAMPANT COLT symbol stamped on the base plate" the ad says!!! AND! on page 51, it says,"COLT Mustang 380 ACP mag" "Rampant COLT" has been ground off!!! What the heck gives?????? How can you tell a real mag from the reproductions??????????????????? [:(!][:(!][:(!]

    The reproduction mags do not have the color distortion on the bottom part of the mag and the M is a little different. Also the reproduction mags are total junk.

    I reviwed that catalog and came to the conclusion that the items described were not correctly described-like read misprint. A call would set your mind at ease[:D] 101

    No but it might be copyright infringement using colts trademark unliscenced.

    Was told at the gun show this weekend, That Colt has money problems and CMC has been making Colt mags... Colt did not pay CMC. And the REPRODUCTION mags are the real colt mag, so CMC put them on the market... AND COlT was sold...Anyone know about this?[:0]

    Colt has used contractors for mags (& sometimes complete guns) for many years. I hadn't heard of Colt's sale, but that would undoubtedly have made the newspapers if it were so.

    Mag contracts are small compared to Colt's other financial obligations. By the time that the mag manufacturer gave up all hope of collecting for them, they & other suppliers would have filed suit for payment.

    A more likely scenario is that the mags were REJECTED by Colt, & that is why they are on the market. I'm willing to bet that they are not in Colt packaging.
