Just wondering if anyone knows what a 1935 Gew. 88 Turk Mauser in good condition might be worth?

    when shooting the mauser with surplus ammo sometimes it will shoot sometimes it will take 2 or 3 times for it to shoot so i thought it was the ammo but when i tryed new ammo it did the same thing.it always seemed to have a nice dent in the primer. what could be the cause? thanks

    There are a couple of things to try.

    - Take the bolt apart and clean out the bolt body and then clean the spring. This area could be heavily greased and dirty causing the spring to be sluggish.

    - Replace the spring since it could be 60 some years old and a little worn out. Springs can be gotten at Brownells.

    It could be one of several things including excess headspace which is dangerous. If you haven't taken the bolt apart, do that and clean the firing pin, spring, and inside of bolt. If you have had the bolt apart, make sure you got the bolt shroud (the back end of the bolt) screwed all the way back in. In some cases it is possible to have it one complete turn out and still do as you described.
