.22 Ruger Mag. Converson
Does anyone have any experience with putting a .22 Mag. Cylinder in a.22 that didn't come with one?

Get thee to a gunsmith, this is not an area for the hobbyest to tinker in unless you don't mind running the risk of ruining both revolver and cylinder ...
If you only have time to do two things so-so, or one thing well ... do the one thing!0 -
Yankee clipper, As long as the Single Six you are asking about is 'higher' than #150,000 serial number, sometimes a cylinder that has come from another gun ,of 'like' vintage' (old model ,new model) will work in your gun. You'll know right away if it 'drops' in ,has no 'excessive' end play. Cock the hammer back on each chamber and see that it 'locks' up (indexes). If it does NOT drop in then you need to have it fitted and I reccomend as above, take it to a good gunsmith. You can also contact the Factory and see if your gun can be 'fitted' with one and get a "cost' amount! With the shipping today, overnight ,etc, it can be VERY costly and then go the 'used' route. Any other questions feel free to contact me!;)

I've done this twice for my Rugers (single six ) first time the cylinder would not even fit into the gun , the second time which was just last month, the cylinder fit like a glove , timing was perfect, would not have been any better if it had been done at the factory , cost was $40 for a used cylinder ,, but like others have said its kind of a matter of luck , if they fit and time up right great, if not then send it off to a good smith 0 -
Right on: I wouldn't think of doing it myself. Thats why there are Gunsmiths. This is a 5 diget 3 screw so I wasn't sure they made convertables back then. I'm still not sure. Anyone know any different?
