US marked rifle scabbard
I bought a pretty clean scabbard marked U.S. LG Co 1943. It has two straps with snap loop fasteners and a 6" slot in the outside to clear an operating handle. The slot has lacing holes and rawhide to keep the operating handle in place.
Anyone know what I've got and what it might be worth?

I believe they made both leather and canvas scabbards to be attached to the jeeps in WWII. I've seen M1's carried in such in pictures.

I was thinking M1 Garand.
If such be the case...reproductions go for $125.00 plus. I would double this at a minimum for the Garand collector's that can not live
w/o all. As Kdub stated-likely for use in a jeep. My $.020 -
I had a couple of like sounding Israeli surplus covers. Went to a 30 caliber Browning light machine gun.
