    Yes, I use it all the time. Hoppes was selling moly in a spray can like you describe a few years back (I think they're still selling it); they described it as good for general lubrication.

    I actually liked the way it applied (especially to a degreased surface) and could be buffed to look bright like nickel. As an experiment I coated my whole Nagant revolver with it and buffed--it looked great at first but would tarnish and continue to rub off as the gun was handled. I washed most of it off with WD-40 and elbow grease, but it still has moly in grooves and corners--it's tough to remove so watch overspray if you use it as a general lubricant.
