stock help
I bought a stock pre fitted for a 98 mauser. I got it and it is fitted for a magnum trigger guard which is ok because I am putting a 300 win mag /98 action in it. My question is where do I get a magnum trigger guard? I called gun parts and they list one that is 3 7/16 is this the one I need? A regular trigger guard fits holes but it does not fill in the sides and they rear of guard stops short of filling the rear up. ( the corners or not filled in) If this is not the guard I need please advise to what I need.

Mike,
I just checked 3 98 mausers an 8mm,338winmag and 375 whelan imp.
The mag wells all measure between 3 5/16 and 3 3/8. The distance
between the screw holes is approx 7 3/4.Maybe you have a magnum length stock and you don't need one.
Just a thought.

Aside from the sides having gaps, the rear and corners fit can be easily taken care of if you have a friend with a welder. Weld in excess steel and file the welds down to fit. With a little efforts you shouldn't have any problems getting what you want. Over the years there have been so many limited production runs of different trigger guards made that it may not be easy to find one that fits just right. Good luck. 0
