M1 Garand bayonet ?
I just acquired a bayonet with several other items I purchased that I thought was for a garand untill I looked at it closer now I wonder did they make one for the M1 carbine?the barrel hole looks too small for a garand,I sold the only garand I owned several months back or I would try it out.on the blade it has the U C on top of U S with the flaming bomb in the middle, 1942 under it all,it has three 1's stamped into the bottom of the hilt it has a serial #UFH030649 stamped into the hilt with the proof mark on the other side of the blade.it has a 10" blade but does not look like the cut down models the top of the blade is straight all the way to the tip with the bottom sweeping up to it,it does not have the dagger shape of most cut downs, like i said it looks like a garand bayonet but the rifle hole just looks too small so did they make this bayonet to fit other model rifles?

Sounds to me like a standard M1 Garand bayonet, WW II version. Sizes can sometimes appear deceptive when you don't have the object at hand for comparison. The muzzle of an M1 really isn't that large in diameter. 0 -
thanks the one I have is the one on the very bottom, the only difference is mine is marked U C instead of UFH,it just looked like the mounting hole was not big enough and I was curious,,,thanks again 0 -
UC was the production code for Utica Cutlery Co. while UFC was the code for Union Fork and Hoe.
