I was curious if anyone could tell me what kind of gun is the character "DERECK", using in the movie "AMERICAN HISTORY X".

The P series would fit your bill nicely. You would need to go to a shop and check out the differences between say, a P94 and a P95. Functions are the same, but the size and materials are not. Your preference. Both are fine weapons for the uses stated.

I went with the Decocker. You don't need a safety on a double action weapon. You can still thumb cock the weapon for more accurate shooting when out plinking. The DAO has the long, stiff pull everytime.

What I want is an auto that functions like a double action revolver. Double action pull at all times but with the ability to be thumb cocked for more accurate work.

I own a KP94 and a KP90 and love both of them. They may not be the best pistol on the market, but I think you get more than what you pay for with a Ruger.

I went to the ruger website and this might sound stupid but how does the decocker model work. I just don't understand it.

Most decockers simply use the (safety) lever to lower the hammer from its single action cocked position to hammer down or double action position. This is how Walther, SIG and Beretta decockers work and I assume this also the same on the Ruger. A mechanical lowering device is considered safer than lowering the hammer by one's thumb after depressing the trigger. For the most part this is true, but I'd still make sure the gun is pointing in a safe direction while doing so.

I suggest you consider the DC models as I think from the skill level you have inferred and the stated use, you will be better served.
