Nickel or Stainless?

Which is more durable?I dont know anything about nickel but I think that it is just a coating on carbon steel?right?I live in a very humid part of the United States with a good bit of rain and have had blued guns rust very quickly.I am looking to get something in stainless or nickel but need the most durable and rust resistant for the money.I like the way Nickel looks more but not enough to over look its durability.Which one should I go with?Toughest,longest lasting?

  I feel nickel is less than stainless or blue if not cleaned properly the solvent will lift the nickel off the metal

  Stainless while not immune to the elements will out do any other finish on common firearms

  All of my "keepers" are stainless, less my Buckmark, and a 5 year old LNIB all nickel Firestorm Mini 40S&W double stack .. can't wait to D.R.O.S. that one [:p][:p][:p]

  I will add to stainless. Please remember that the bores of most of the combat rifles are chrome lined. Chrome is even better but not one of your selections. My 2 cents [8D]
