Single shots

I once heard it said that "If you can't resolve the problem you face, or drop the game you want, with one shot- then you have a much worse problem than ANY firearm will ever solve for you".
It is a motto I have always tried to live by and live up to. Anybody else have any comments or observations they want to add- all are MOST welcome!

    One shot is a challenge. I'm a "rabid" TC Contender person. I hunt with both Contenders and "front stuffers".

    If I had any options I would use neither in a tactical/defensive situation.

    When hunting w/ the Contender I have a wrist band that holds cartridges readily available for reloading. With the smoke poles I've just learned to reload fast, but it's not fast enough for escaping game ... just necessary to finish the job if one is down.

    I knew of a fella up in Alaska that went after Kodiak with a single shot, large (appropriate) caliber ... and those that knew this guy better than I said he was a superb shot and an experienced hunter. From the stories of those that were there ... he got off basically a perfect shot, but the range was close (as often is the case) and he never got the chance to complete the reload before the bear was on him. He expired a few seconds before the bear! The point of this being that there are times and situations where a single shot is not the best choice, or have someone backing you up with appropriate fire power.



    If you only have time to do two things so-so, or one thing well ... do the one thing!
