I have just been given a vintage 1870's rifle complete w/ bayonet! My father believes it to be Italian made and was used in the Spanish-American war. Can anyone help me identify this piece? I want post a listing but need to know what it is and value. I can email as many pictures as you need to help me.
    Thanks everyone for your time,
    Karl Webster

I was just kidding you, no offense meant.

Without a photo, my guess is that you have a VV-70 (Vetterli-Vitalie) known as Garabaldi's greatest.

Pics are best but even a description of markings, dimensions, etc. would be enough.

"...hit your enemy in the belly, and kick him when he is down, and boil his prisoners in oil- if you take any- and torture his women and children. Then people will keep clear of you..." -Admiral of the Fleet Lord Fisher, speaking at the Hague Peace Conf
