Export from CANADA / Import to US
Please help with info on exporting long guns (NIB Commemoratives) from Canada to buyers in US.

Be prepared to get totally frustrated with the whole deal and give up.
I tried for 3 months to purchase a rifle from a dealer in Ontario and have it shipped to Va. Went through the whole 9 yards of assisting the receiving dealer procure forms and get approved to import the darned thing. First off they can only be shipped from Canada via Air Freight. UPS will carry them to the border but they won't exchange them to US trucks (even UPS trucks) at the border.
If you live near or are willing to travel to a major airport which Air Canada services with freight, and are prepared to acquire the services of a broker to wade through the red tape of paying the import duty fees, then you just might pull it off and when you consider the currency exchange rate you might even decide you're getting a good deal, but that wasn't my experience. 9/11 cost us all more than just those precious lives that were lost.
That's from my perspective in the lower 48, and from the way your question is worded I'm assuming you are on the other side of the border. So now you know what hurdles those on this end must clear.0 -
Unless you are an importer, you cannot import from Canada for resale. You can import for your own collection or for another resident of your state. That is if you are an 01 FFL. I have imported a couple of firearms from Canada for my own collection and am presently waiting on a Martini-Hagn barreled action for a fellow Alaskan resident. Filled out the Form 6, waited a couple of months, rifles were sent by UPS Second Day Air.

yep, gotta have that form6 from BATF by your local FFL. Then mail them with a copy of the approval (provided by your FFL). Any questions about how to do it call US Customs on 201-714 9834 (they are very helpful). Good Luck 0
