Anybody know of a good source of information as to the dates of manufacture vs serial numbers on Remington O/U Serial Numbers?

They generally date the Remingtons by how they are marked. If you can, search for a previous answer, someone wrote a detailed explanation on dating O/U Remington derringers.

They were in production from 1866 to 1935 if I remember correctly.

Agree with Rockford. Use the "Search" utility at the top right of the GB home page. About 150,000 were made. I have two and have had several others. Serial number seem to have been assigned new with each production run. All the serial numbers I have seen have had very few digits.

Remington over and under serial numbers are rather meaningless as these pistols were serial numbered in batchs rather then consecutively. After so many were made serial numbers started over again at number 1, much as did the Mauser rifle.

Thanks for the input. I found a good explaination in the back of the Dixie Gun Works catalog.
