Extractor for a 180 series Ruger Mini 14

Anyone know where I could obtain an extractor for a 180 series Ruger Mini 14? I tried a newer extractor but it would not fit, its got to be a 180 series part.

    Chris... You can email Ruger at <www.ruger-firearms.com>. or Ph# 603-865-2442.
    If you send them your bolt Iam sure they will install the proper extractor for you, probably at no charge.

    I have a 180 series mini that the bolt roller broke on a few years ago. I sent them the gun and they not only fixed the roller but went thru the rifle and replaced other items they felt were worn.
    They charged me nothing.

    The post 180 rifles have a solid bolt camming surface. I guess the roller system did not live up to expectations.

    Thanks Laredo, I will try them tomorrow morning to see if they still have 180 extractors.

    If you have one of the original 180 series Mini 14's you are S.O.L. if you need parts! I called Ruger and there are no parts available for the 180 series rifles. Now I guess I have a very expensive paperweight!

    I was afraid that Ruger was going to tell you that. I followed your thread and wished you luck. I started to post the fact that Ruger no longer supports the 180 series, but I figured it best that you hear it from them.

    Have you checked www.perfectunion.com ? Post a WTB add there and keep your fingers crossed. There is alot of Mini-14 parts bought and sold by owner there. I hate to say this but E-bay might be your best bet for this part.

    Sorry to hear that (because I've got two of them!), but there's always hope at The Numrich Gun Parts Corp., The Jack First Co., or from one of the many smaller parts dealers listed in the classifieds of The Shotgun News or The Gun List. Sometimes it takes a lot of phone calls and persistence, retrying the same sources again periodically, but one can usually eventually turn up a hard to find part. That's too nice a rifle to just give up on. Sooner or later somewhere one will be run over by a careless hunter's truck and then stripped for parts.[:D]

    I called Numrich Gun Parts in NY and Jack First in SD, no luck. I will keep on trying though!

    The 180 parts problem has been noted here many times. I had the same problem trying to buy a stock for one. There have been several postings that claim Ruger has a buy-back program for these rifles.
    You might check to see if this is true . If so at least you would not be stuck with a useless wall hanger.

    Chris.... Sorry it didnt work out. I figured if anyone would have parts for that rifle, Ruger would.

    I have a several mini-14's. I didnt know there was a difference in the older and newer extractors, I have never looked at them that close.

    Do you think I may be possible to "engineer" a newer one to fit your gun? Or would a newer model bolt work in your 180 gun, just a thought.

    I guess the only other action would to check a few gun shows for what you need.
