Remington 700 & 721 smithing dilemma
I'm building up a Remington 721 adl long action and chose a Choate ultimate sniper stock for now. The stock is for a Remington 700 adl long as I could not find one for a 721. Everything fits well now that I bought a Jewell trigger for it except the magazine box, its too tall because of the ridges in the bottom of the magazine well. I'm not sure what the best course of action should be from this point. I could machine out the stock to fit the magazine box or I'm wondering if a magazine box from a 700 would work with the 721 action instead. Any suggestions?

always start with the least costly part. trying a different mag box would be a simple start 0 -
as long as the magazine will still function (still in straight ans spring still attaches correctly) then opening the stock is no problem.
why chase the game when the bullet can get em from here?....
Got Balistics?0 -
The ridges in the bottom of the mag well were put there for a purpose,to stiffen it under recoil.grind off the bottom of the mag box until it fits, this is a common problem when changing stocks on remingtons. 0 -
Thanks for your opinions everybody. I think I'll start with trying a 700 mag box first. It's probably best to start with a parts swap and not make any permanent modifications unless I have to. The only problem is that I'm not familliar enough with Remingtons to know if the 700 box will fit under a 721 receiver. 0 -
This is a little off topic, but can I ask why your choose the 710 over the 700?

treedawg,
He is working on a Remington 721 which is definitely NOT a Rem. 710.
