s/n fg28xxx its a goverment combat model blue/blue with colt rubber grips
can you tell me how old it is? and a little history on this model?

Mfg. started in 1983 w/ serial FG010000
checkered walnut grips through 1990, rubber combat style w/ medalion 1991 and on.
weight approx. 38 oz.
avail in 38 Super, 9mm (until 1992) and 45
no other history unless you have one that has some historical connection w/ the paperwork to back it up.
If your going to get into collecting 1911 Style Colts invest in a reference book or two as there are a whole lot of varriations.
If you only have time to do two things so-so, or one thing well ... do the one thing!0
