I recently was considering a Howa .22-250 and a Savage .22-250 in my opinion the Howa has a better fit and finish. Both have excellent accuracy track records. The trigger on the Howa is far superior to a standard Savage trigger and thus gets my nod. The Accu-trigger idea is fine for a benchrest rifle I suppose, but for hunting I'd prefer a traditional trigger. Even though I ended up getting a CZ 527 in .223 I intend to buy a Howa in the future, probably the stainless/synthetic version.

I don't think you can go wrong either way.

I agree, both are fine from the accuracy standpoint. Fit and finish are better on the Howa, and to my eyes it is a more attractive rifle. I also like the flat bottom design of the Howa receiver, which makes for a great platform for glas bedding. Shorter barrel will cost you about 100 fps velocity, which is not really significant in this caliber at normal ranges.

In the past I have never been a fan of any Savage, but in the last few years, I have seen more than one of these homely rifles shoot a very very small group. As a matter of fact I am in the market for a rifle and it is the only action I'am going to get it in 270 WSM. [:D]

I have a savage 12bvss in 300wsm. The new accu trigger doesnt cut it with me. Accuracy was pretty good though. It shot the hell out of the winchester factory 150 grain. But I will NOT buy another. Just dont like the feel of the rifle. The howa and the savages are both good rifles. The howa is japanese made. But if weatherby thinks their actions are good enough to use they must be pretty good. Have never heard of a howa that didnt shoot excellent groups with ammo that it liked. My opinion, get the howa. And no that short barrel wont hurt much. Cut velocity maybe 50 to 100fps. But I promise the game wont ever know the difference.

Everyone has a photographic memory. Only some have film.

I am a Huge Savage Fan, They are not the nicest looking Bolt Guns in my safe But my 3 model 110's Shoot better than some of my Remington 700's,In my opinion I would get the savage and leave the Howa for a Honda Owners[:D]

We have both Howa and Savage and I think the Howa is a nicer looking rifle. Both are accurate beyond most shooters' ability. Both probably need a better recoil pad. Other than that pick the one that feels best to you.
