AR Scope Mounting Help !

I have a Colt Ar-15 with the non removable carry handle. I have a Weaver type rail mount installed through the hole in the handle and standard Weaver rings. The problem is that after I get the scope mounted it sits so high in the air that it will not even come close to the boresighter. Can anyone offer some help or tips ?

    Had the same problem with one of my scopes. My gunsmith put a small set screw in the back of the bar. This allowed the back of the scope to be raised slightly. Worked great for me. I might still have that thing.

    Your going to have to sight it in the old fashion way!! Shoot the gun close ( 20 feet or so ) and adjust it in. OR block it up, look down the barrel and get it close. Make sure your mount is not reversed and is all the way down in the handle WITH a lockswasher under the locking screw. Once adjusted in I can take my scope off the rifle , remount and it is back where I sighted it in.

    Bore sighters are good for hitting on the paper. Not a hard fast absolute.
    Take Select Fires suggestion before spending $$$. Find out the POI.

    Some AR mounts are cheap extrusions with a minimum of machining. Most are very high, and don't set down in the handle making scoping problematic.
    Really screws up long range accuracy very easily.
    One reason you see alot of dot sights on handle receivers.
    I have machined mounts that are low, tight, and not cheap.
    But work (depending on POI).

    If short range firingTo minimize using scope adjustments, and for a rock solid set up, use the Burris Signature Ring with +.015 insert in the rear, and -.015 in the front. Gain about 150" at 100yds.
    If using too much of the adjustment, the go to +.020, and -.020 for a 200" gain.

    Shoot it first to see where it prints holes.

    there is nothing wrong w/ MFI 's mount an rings.....
    i have an AR-15 [handle type] w/ a military Colt scope mounted w/ its own built-in mount, all sighted in out to 300yards , you will notice if you open the top half , take out the bolt an look thru- the bore
    an line it up w/something at 25' [say a 1"dot] then look thru- the scope it will appear that the scope cross-hairs are much higher line of impact that is do to the height of the handle most bore sighter do not adjust for that height, its almost a 3 inch difference between the bore an cross-hairs
    this may help MFI set up his scope to get it on the paper with less guess work an less ammo as well [bore sighting the really ole way]
    but it works well

    Unknowns that can greatly influence MFI's POI:
    Handle height-they're not all the same.
    Mount used - " " " " ".
    Ring height - "Standard" as posted means what?
    Scope-they're not all the same.

    Scopes are generally regulated (adjustments factored)at a 1.50" distance of optics center to barrel bore center.

    The difference of an extra 1.5" can use up alot of internal adjustment which can very easily degrade the sight picture, and/or render precise adjustments (tracking) as close to worthless.
