If you are buying from a California dealer, it is the same procedure as any other firearm purchase. If you have a C&R FFL and a California Certificate of Eligibility, you can avoid the 10 day waiting period.
If you have a C&R FFL, you can order C&R rifles and shotguns that are over fifty years old from out of state and have them sent directly to you. Any other firearms must be transferred through a California dealer.
Within California, you may purchase a C&R rifle or shotgun that is over 50 years old from a private party without going through a dealer. No C&R license is required.

EOD Guy, for my edification: you say any rifle or shotgun over 50 years old, does that mean in CA you cannot purchase the other firearms, pistols and revolvers etc. that are on the C&R list with a C&R license? Thanks!

When you are in California, the other types must be transferred through a California dealer. If you are outside the state, you can purchase any C&R firearms and personally bring them back to California, except for so called "assault weapons." Handguns would have to be registered with the State DOJ within 5 days.0 -
Thanks for the replies. The reason for the post, I was at a gunshow in Ventura, Ca. this weekend and a guy had a table full of Mausers and Arisakas that he was selling "cash and carry". I wasn't sure this was legal and didn't want to get involved, mainly because his prices were in the "stratosphere". Thanks again, John

That's why prices were high ... in the Peoples Republic of Kalifornia it's a sellers market.
In "K" at gun shows you don't have to worry to much about legal as about every fourth person is an undercover for some agency. And to keep from getting caught in a "sting" ask the seller straightout about legalities saying that your not exactly clear on them. Then if the seller lies and zaps you in a "sting" you have a solid entrapment defense.
If you only have time to do two things so-so, or one thing well ... do the one thing!0 -

So you are saying that a C&R holder in CA cannot buy a Pre-64 Winchester Model 70 or one of the Remington Anniversary firearms and have it shipped directly too them (just 2 example of firearms that are not all models are 50 years old but are on the C&R list)?
