I have a Eclipse Choke Bore side by side hammer gun
Serial # 7212.H
Patent # 488366
December 20, 1892
Looking for a little history on the gun and what it might be worth in the market today. In great condition. Have been told that it's use with black powder but I've used low brass trap loads with success. Noticed that someone was asking about one of these last year.

Hello Rodney,
Welcome to the forum.
I'm not positive, but it seems to me that the Eclipse shotguns were made by Crescent Gun Company. They made shotguns both internal and external hammer SXS for a lot of people; American, Knickerbocker, and a variety of hardware stores. You mite check a Numrich catalog and compare the parts pictures and see if they are anything like what you have.
Hope this helped.

Your 1890's vintage shotgun, with external hammers, in all probability has Damascus Barrels.
Because it's not prudent, ( for safety reasons ) to fire them with modern commercial ammo, usually there only value is as decorators ( Wallhangers ).
