1919a4 cut-a-way that shots

I have a chance to buy a 1919a4 cut-a-way made by saginaw steering
gear. im told this gun was cut open to show how it worked? is there any value to this or is it just a wall hanger or what.
any help on this please.

    Kent.... It's pretty much a wall hanger unless you plan to teach classes for 1919 armorers, and there is not much of a demand for that these days.
    You cant shoot cutaways, so it might make a nice conversation piece for your den.

    Don't know what your looking at cost wise, but last one I seen for sale was several hundred dollars. As I recall it was half or better of what working semi-auto 1919's were going for, say $600-650 or there abouts.


    If you only have time to do two things so-so, or one thing well ... do the one thing!

    As a rule, cut-aways are still considered firearms and unless this A4 was registered during the 1968 amnesty and the owner has the papers to prove it, this sounds like an unregistered machinegun and getting near it means trouble. The very fact that it can still shoot means that the BATFE would consider it to be a live firearm. On the other hand, if this firearm IS registered it might be worth a nice premium over the typical 1919A4-- which move in the $8,000 to $10,000 range. Remember, just cutting a few slices into a firearms receiver does not make it a "non-gun"; You basically have to carve up the receiver into at least three pieces to leave nothing left for rewelding.
