Shooting life? - Glock 23...
I've owned a Glock 23 (compact .40) for two years and I like it pretty well. I've put 6 boxes of factory 180s through it and I was wondering about it's useful shooting life. I would expect 8000 rounds plus based on experience with govt .45s but is there a police armorer or Glock lover who really knows?? I won't be using any reloads.

There are Glocks out there that have 100,000 rounds through them. And the only thing done (other than cleaning and lube) is spring change outs which is really something that most owners can do, but for the severely mechanically challenged ... a gunsmith can do.
If you only have time to do two things so-so, or one thing well ... do the one thing!0 -
Yep, they are like a factory tool. Meant to just do its job long past when the figured it'd be done. Glocks are good guns, I intend to shoot mine until it blows up, or breaks
It matters not how many times you've been knocked down. What matters is how many times you've gotten back up.0 -
It takes 2000rds just to polish down the tenifer finish inside the barrel[:0] The gun will last longer than you[8D]

Glock's Tenifer finish is literally diamond hard and lines the bore of all their pistols as well as all the other metal parts. The Tenifer finish process, I understand, is the most expensive part of making their pistols.
It will be shooting long after you are.

I worked at a indoor shooting range for a few years. We had for rent about every Glock there is (save the 18). The popular models that had been there for at least 3 years (17, 19, 21, 22, 23) easily had a half million rounds through them. Of course that wasnt without proper care and some very minor gunsmithing that anyone can do. When we finally did have to send one in to Glock for repair, they were so impressed with their gun that they gave us a new one (well, armory new). So happy shooting! 0 -
