10 GA. double

Just wondering what this 10 gauge double side by side would be worth. Make is pride of spain with 32'' barrels,full/full. Makings include, sloan's S.G. CO. I believe it's also marked new york under sloan but the stamp is rough.Gun is in great shape. Any info would be greatly appreciated,thanks

    Reference notes that Sloans had been importing shotguns for years.

    The POS brand were imported as early as the 1970's and were sold relatively inexpensively.

    Go throught the Auctions and the papers, "S. N." etc. See what similar Spanish 10 gauge shotguns are selling for.

    "Pride of Spain" shotguns are utility grade for the most part; safe and workable but I think unlikely to hold up in really long-term use with 3 1/2" "magnumb" 10-bore shells. If you don't shoot hundreds of rounds in it each season, it oughta last a while.

    I think that if you went to www.gunshop.com "The Double Gun BBS" and asked those guys, they could tell you more, including probably which Spanish maker or consortium made the gun and how they have held up over the years.

    You can also find out when it was made by finding the year of proof code somewhere on the reciever (probably on the water table). It will be a letter and a number, but remember that Spanish has several letters we don't use--double L (ll) and an N with a ~ mark over it. There is a list of Spanish year of proof codes on the "Spanish pistol nut" website www.9mmlargo.com. (Sorry largoistas, I'm using the terminology my wife uses for us "aficionados de la pistola automatica espanola.")
