Need Info On Essex Gun Works .22
I have an old Essex Gun Works single shot .22 It says Trade Marke Registered on the reciever. It appears the rec. was case colored and this has a hammer you cock back and then pull back on the block to insert shell. This gun has a 19.5" barrel and it appears to be in good shape and good working order. When was this company in business and what is this gun worth or what model might I have? Any info is appreciated! Thanks

"Essex Gun Works" is a trade name used by both "Harrington & Richardson" and "Crescent Fire Arms Co."
Chances are it being a rifle, it was probably made by H & A. It's not a positive thing though? As both the firearms made with the Essex name by the two above companies were reported to be shotguns?
It would be best if you posted a good quality picture of the rifle, as it might be easier to identify that way.
