Browning A bolt 300 WIN MAG
My buddy just purchased a Browning A Bolt 300 win mag with a 26' bbl with composite stock and was trying to find out what round would be the best to zero in with. The browning web site doesn't have a ballistics chart that we could find. Anybody have any experience with this particular rifle?

I would recommend the Federal Premium with the Nosler Partition or other 180 grain bullet. I have found it to work the best for me in factory loads. Others may have a different recommendation but I think this is the best factory ammo. I reload for my 300 and I use the Partition bullets and they are really accurate. I have also used the 180 Ballistic Tips with real good results. (they are not really built for elk or other bigger game so I went with the Partitions)

Everyone will have a different answer concerning their favorite. But what good does Joe Blow's favorite load do if the rifle your friend has doesnt like it. Each rifle is an individual. Choose the proper bullet type for the game to be hunted. For deer use something along the line of a balistic tip or remington coreloct. For heavier game such as elk you will need a bonded core bullet such as the partition, hornady interbond, or nosler accu bond. The fail safe or the barnes x are also excellent choices. Then try some of the different offerings from different manufacturers to see what shoots best in "your"(or in this case your friend's) rifle. Then use that load to zero and hunt with. And remember to rezero if you change somewhere along the way. Hopefully the rifle likes 180 grain bullets. Most of my friends use them even on deer. The light bullets just dont seem to leave enough energy inside the target to do the trick like the heavier ones do. Hope this helps.
