Springfield Armory Mil-Spec owners?
How do you like this weapon?I am looking to get a 1911 style .45 and dont want to spend much right now.I will spend more for a top-line one later but for now want to keep it affordable and simple. It will be used alot to get me used to a single action and used to shhoting that type of firearm and for defense(I dont have a problem shooting FMJ .45acp for defense)Would this be a good weapon for a first time 1911 purchase or maybe another gun/maker?Im not looking for something that has to be a tack driver, middle of target is fine but I do want it to always work.I will be using standard ball or fmj bullets so I wont be trying to feed hollowpoints through a MIL-SPEC gun.How has your Springfield acted? Is there any others in the price range that give it a run for its money?

They are a good middle of the road 45, but, they are typically a little overpriced.
Both Rock Island Armory and Charles Daly have pistols that are equal to or better than the SA mil-spec.
Suggest you give them a look before you buy. Also consider picking up a used pistol, lots of people start w/ mid-range stuff then, as you say you plan to do, they sell off or trade in.
If you only have time to do two things so-so, or one thing well ... do the one thing!0 -
As on the other post, I like them. On small stull which will not void warranty, I do it myself when the Manufacturer sends be the parts. 0 -
I really like mine. the only problem i have had is not enough time to take it out to play

I love mine but have one problem(might be due to the fact that it is not fully broke in), about 3 out of 100rds wont chamber completly(other words the slide wont fully close). I have put about 175rds trough and I imagine it just needs to be broke in.
