AR-15 Scope and Mount?

I finally found my SP-1 and now must decide upon which scope and mount to use. I don't want to damage the upper in any way. I have considered the original 3X20 or 4X20, but feel my "tired eyes" won't provide much of a group out to 100 yds. I have a 3X9X40 Leupold in the drawer. I saw Midsouth's latest catalog (p.48) and they have a "B-Square" mount with see-through rings (I assume you can get 1") for $43.23 + S&H. It appears to attach to the carry handle with a thumb screw. Is this a good option or am I going astray from my original plan....scoping the rifle with something that will provide relatively accurate shooting out to 100 yds? I appreciate all the insight provided by so many of you and wish to consider all my options. Thank you, Bill

  I use a thru the handle mount and have a 3-12 Bushnell on top of my Colt AR. Rest assurd mine will shoot very accurately at 100yd.

  kidsgun: the colt "arms" mount is the one that I have on my AR-15 it has the sight thru so you can use the open sights.
  
  Just about any 3x9 scope will be plenty for this rifle, your Leupold will be just fine.
  
  The scope with this mount or one like this, that has the thumb screw attachment, will return the rifle to zero even after numerous removals.
  
  These are good mounts.
  
  You wont be sorry for getting one.
