    Hi Dave,

The Mossberg 151M that your friend has was made in 1946, and is an evolution of the pre-war 51M. It was made primarily during 1946, as several mods and a,b,c,d, suffixes began appearing in 1947. The rifle originally sold for $30.90. They were not serial numbered, and the production quantity is unknown.

I have extra copies of the original hang tag, parts breakdown, and exploded drawing, and would be gald to send them to you on receipt of an address. Contacting Mossberg will only get you referred to Vic Havlin, who is an excellent reference, and source of parts.

    Regards, Jay

The front sight sounds like the same one that's on my Mossberg 44US, you select the front sight depending on the target your shooting.
With the rear peep and the front "ring" sight centered on the target "black" you should see a sliver of "white" around the "black" to hit in the 10 ring.

Some guys like a mag full of lead, I still prefer one round to the head.
