HOW DOES HOWA 1500 STACK UP AGAINST
Remington 700, winchester 70, browning?

Probably just after the Rem 700. It really is a fine action and very modestly priced. I bought mine in .308 as a barreled action and bedded it on a Boyd's JRS Classic stock. The money you save can go into a quality scope.

I had a remington 700 in .243 that thing just about turned my stomach when I saw the wretched 4" groups i was getting I tried every ammo under the sun and the best I got at 100 yards was 3.5". I know it wasn't me I am able to shoot under 1/2" with my 6mm ppc. So what you are telling me is I either had a crappy remington or I should just stay away from getting a Howa rifle? 0 -
I sorry to hear about the Remington, I have had and it appears to still have a problem with a Savage heavy barrel holding a tight group, I am also considering a HOWA. 0 -
The most recent Remingtons are probably not the equal of the ones made only 15 years ago, but you will see more bench rest rifles built on the 700 action than any thing else, so yes I am sorry to say, you probably just had a crappy one. The Howa is a keeper.

I've got two Howas, both in .30-06. I'd buy another, if I could convince myself I had a good reason to do so. Good rifles. 0 -
I am a gun dealer and I just got a Howa 1500 lightning in the other day and I was quiet supprised at the quality of the gun.It had a silky smooth action with very lttle play compared to the Remingtons I have and it has a really nice trigger from the factory.I have not shot one yet but I would not be afraid to buy one from what I have seen in this one. 0 -
A buddy of mine bought the ~$375 30-06 HOWA and it shot under an inch with the first box of factory ammo he fed it. He has probably $425 invested in it with scope, rings, mount, and rifle and it shoots almost as well as my 700 BDL SS DM in .300 win mag topped with a Leupold Vari-X III 4.5x14x50... I should have bought the same thing and saved the other $700 for other interests. 0 -
Howa and Savage are as accurate or more-so than the others, and at a better price.
How you doin'!

Well lets put it this way.....
Howa 1500's are the same as Weatherby Vanguards which are guaranteed to shoot less than 1" and come with the test fire target to prove it packed in the box. Who else does that?
....I never met a gun I didn't like!0
